چکیده
The strain WBS, an anaerobic, psychro- and halotolerant bacterium belonging to the genus Fusibacter, was isolated from littoral bottom sediments of White Sea, Arctic, Russia. Fusibacter bizertensis WBS grew at temperatures between 8 32 °C (optimum growth 18–20 °C), pH 5.2 8.3 7.2), NaCl concentrations 0 70 g L−1 L−1). It reduced sulfate, thiosulfate, elemental sulfur into sulfide, and, probably, is able disproportionate thiosulfate. also utilized a wide range substrates as it chemoorganotrophic bacterium. Analysis sequenced genome revealed genes for all enzymes involved in Embden–Meyerhof glycolytic pathway well non-oxidative stage pentose phosphate pathway. presence encoding aldehyde dehydrogenases alcohol suggests that, addition acetate, alcohols can be fermentation products. possessed superoxide dismutase peroxidase activities ability consume O2, which full accordance with corresponding antioxidant defense genome. phylogenetic analysis suggested that closest relative LTF Kr01T (16S rRNA gene sequence similarity 98.78%). Based on biochemical genomic characteristics, proposed represent novel aero-, halo- psychrotolerant first time among its members cold oxygenated marine sediments.

A strictly anaerobic, halotolerant, spindle-shaped rod, designated strain SEBR 4211T, was isolated from an African saline oil-producing well. Cells stain Gram-positive, which was confirmed by electron microscopy observations. Strain SEBR 4211T was motile by means of one to four peritrichous flagella, had a G+C content of 43 mol% and grew optimally at 37 degrees C, pH 7.3, with 0 to 3% (w/v) NaC...
متن کاملBacteroides sp. strain D8, the first cholesterol-reducing bacterium isolated from human feces.
The microbial community in the human colon contains bacteria that reduce cholesterol to coprostanol, but the species responsible for this conversion are still unknown. We describe here the first isolation and characterization of a cholesterol-reducing bacterium of human intestinal origin. Strain D8 was isolated from a 10(-8) dilution of a fresh stool sample provided by a senior male volunteer w...
متن کاملGenome sequence of the leaf-colonizing Bacterium Bacillus sp. strain 5B6, isolated from a cherry tree.
Plant growth-promoting bacteria colonize various habitats, including the phyllosphere. Here, we present the high-quality draft genome sequence of Bacillus sp. strain 5B6, which was isolated from the leaf of a cherry tree. The 3.9-Mb genome uncovers its potential for understanding the nature of leaf colonization as well as antibiosis against plant pathogens.
